Pen Chalet x Maiora Alpha Eyedropper Pen Review

Today, we will be reviewing the Maiora Alpha Eyedropper in Nera. This pen was provided by Pen Chalet and is available for $252.

Design: (5/5)

The Maiora Alpha Nera is a resin Italian fountain pen. The color is classic black with gold trim. There are other colors available (the Ercolano is beautiful). I really liked the motif around the cap. It measures 5.09" (129.3 mm) uncapped, with a 0.5 " (12.7 mm) grip. The pen itself feels solid in the hand and weighs 1 oz (28.35 g).

I am picky with pen grips and weight due to hand fatigue, but found this pen to be comfortable with long writing sessions.

 Color: (4/5)

This colorway, Nera, is a standard black. The gold trim provides a classy feel.

Nib: (5/5)

The nib is stainless steel and plated in 14k gold. I was provided a <M> - this is a Western medium. The standard nib options offered range from <EF> to <B> or 1.5 mm Stub.  The nib itself was smooth; writing felt glass-like, and I did not experience hard starts or skips.

Ink Capacity: (5/5)

This is where the Maiora Eyedropper shines in my opinion. It boasts a triple filling system, which means it uses standard converters, cartridges, or as an eyedropper. It holds 5.5 mL.

Writing Sample:

Tomoe River Paper 52 gsm
Maiora Alpha <M>
Taccia Ao-Guro

Overall:

I loved the Maiora Alpha Eyedropper and wish I happened upon it sooner. The pen has become a journaling favorite and is used daily. In particular, it is very comfortable while writing.  I definitely recommend checking out the different colors available on Pen Chalet!
