This muted pink color has to be one of my favorites. |
Have you ever tried out a pen and immediately thought, this is THE one? Today I'll be reviewing the Otto Hutt Design 06 in Pink Velvet with a medium nib. This pen was purchased from Pen Chalet and arrived to my doorstep a few days later. This was a last-minute purchase as I was in the mood to something new.
Otto Hutt is a German company founded in the 1920s in Pforzheim. The company manufactures rollerballs and ballpoint pens along with the current fountain pen lineup. This line boasts six fountain pens named Design 01 to Design 07 (flagship model).
Design(5/5): This pen is sleek and luxurious. The cap lines perfectly with the body and contributes to a flush, seamless design. The reason this earns a 5/5 is because of the metal section. The tapered section is the perfect shape for my sweaty hands and overly menacing grip. This is the first pen which I can grip comfortably. It just "fits". The pen is hefty at 1.52 oz/43 g ( 1.07 oz/30 g unposted) but the weight is evenly distributed. The weight and tapered grip allowed me to write for hours without tiring.
Color (5/5): This is a lovely pale pink which is suitable for any occasion. The color is feminine and playful.
Nib (5/5): This two-toned nib is rose gold and silver which accents the rest of the pen. Imagine my surprise when I found out that this was a steel nib! This nib was so responsive that I was convinced it was made out of gold. The nib writes smoothly without any hard starts or skips. It maintains a consistent ink flow and writes a lovely, true-to-size medium line.

Ink Capacity (4/5): I had to take a star off of the ink capacity. This pen uses a standard converter so there wasn't anything "exceptional".
Overall(5/5): I am awarding this pen my first 5/5! I absolutely love the grip section, nib, and design. It truly felt like "The" pen from the moment I picked it up. In fact, I put most of my pens up for sale after this purchase. I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking to try out the Otto Hutt line.
