Ink Review #33: Birmingham Allegheny Observatory Celestial Blue

Today I will be reviewing my first Birmingham ink. Celestial Blue is a well-mannered navy with plenty of shading. The ink is named after the Allegheny Observatory which was established in 1859. Construction was completed in 1912 and the observatory is currently maintained by the Pitt University.

Birmingham Pen Company is located on the Southside of Pittsburgh. The name draws parallels to the Birmingham manufacturer in England. The inks are individually prepared and named after historical events, people, and places in Pittsburgh.

Swabs:

This ink has no no sheen, high shading, and a moderate dry time. The color is similar to Pilot Iroshizuku's Shin-Kai with gray hues.

Writing Sample:

I had no issues with this sample. This ink demonstrated consistent flow and was not overly wet.

Overall: This is an agreeable blue with great shading.

Disclaimer: This ink was purchased by me and all opinions/photos are my own. This post was not sponsored.
