Ink Review #4: Platinum Classic Lavender Black

Today I'll be reviewing Platinum's iron gall ink: Classic Lavender Black. This is a beautiful ink which goes on bright red, then dries to a dark maroon. I totally didn't realize that it WAS an iron gall ink until I read up on it. As a reminder, iron gall inks are acerbic (which lends them their waterproof qualities).

Swabs:

This ink has medium flow, with high shading. There is no sheen. The color has red/pink hues and is warmer than Rohrer & Klingner's Scabiosa. In my opinion, this was a well-behaved ink as it did not have any "blobbing" or bleedthrough issues.

As you write, you can see the color shift as the ink dries. This ink goes on a bright pinkish red, but dries to a dark purple.

Overall: Platinum Classic Lavender Black is a muted purple-black iron gall ink.
